Hy's Encore Steakhouse

Established in 1955 and recognized as Vancouver's premier steakhouse, Hy's Encore is an iconic hospitality destination in the city's downtown core. The renewal of the restaurant’s facade was designed to elevate the building's street presence while preserving its sense of history.

Thoughtfully designed exterior renovations now reflect the intimate dining experience found behind the building’s historic exterior. As a tribute to the building’s heritage, the iconic Hy's Encore sign was relocated, and enhanced with architectural lighting, and the look of the original aged brick was maintained. A balcony, custom metal panelling, decorative latticework, and integrated planters work together to create a central focal point, adding depth and texture to the building’s entrance. Now defined by a custom metal canopy, landscaping, and brass lanterns, the main entrance creates a welcoming and distinguished arrival experience for guests. Designed with Vancouver's coastal climate in mind, the renewed facade is a balance between contemporary materials with heritage conservation, nodding to the luxury and history that distinguish Hy’s Encore as a timeless dining destination.
