These modern, three and four-level West Coast BC homes were located on two adjoining lots with very steep terrain and distant ocean views. In order to maintain privacy and a clear sense of distinction between the homes, the architectural forms and wrapping roofs were designed to define each residence within a cohesive overall composition while meeting fire separation requirements. High-level windows, end glazing, and a central stair illuminated by large skylights balance the composition and bring natural light deep into the centre of the homes, maximizing the use of available site space in an elegant and considerate manner.
